Polished Bauxite BAU128 Desert Sunset Large museum pieceBAU128. Bauxite (laterite) rough rock, cut and polished on one side. Dimensions at widest points approximately 150 mm x 100 mm x 70 mm thick. Weighs 1,173 grams. Bauxite is the main raw material used in the commercial production of aluminium. Large reserves of this stone occur in Western Australia. This specimen is from east of the Darling Ranges just outside the city of Perth.
