Germany, Wehrmacht. An M31 Canteen, with US 42nd Infantry Dedication, by Frenzel & Sachs Archive showing minimal handling(Feldflasche M31). Constructed of an aluminum shell, featuring a threaded spout which retains a black bakelite cap, the latter topped by a rivet which connects to cotton straps affixed to an original field grey felt cover, the obverse of the shell notably bearing a hand painted depiction of Hohensalzburg Fortress, situated above a banner bearing an inscription of SALZBURG AUSTRIA, topped by a name of LEROY E. JOHNSON with the classic rainbow insignia
