The New York rapper obviously rose to fame with the debut of Illmatic which made him one of the most important and popular musicians of the decade. I Am. was supposed to be a double album but songs leaked via mp3 file sharing and so the label and Nas decided to proceed with 16 songs. The album saw features from DMX, Aaliyah, and Puff Daddy, and production from DJ Premier, Timbaland, and more. It went to #1
